Mr. Graham Peabody

I have been privileged to call Spotswood home for my entire educational career.

As a student teacher of Social Studies at Spotswood High School with Mr. Frank Yusko in 1994-1995, I was fortunate to receive a phone call for employment from the Supervisor of Social Studies, Mr. William Marshall for the 1995-1996 school year. For the next nine years, I taught Social Studies at the High School, teaching a variety of history courses including United States History I, United States History II, the History of Psychology, Sociology, Political Science, Honors American Studies, and Advanced Placement United States History. During that time, I coached Middle School and Junior Varsity Baseball, Freshman Softball, Freshman Boys Basketball, and Junior Varsity and Varsity Girls Basketball.  I was also an advisor for Yearbook and Model United Nations as well as an unofficial advisor for the Chess Club.

Outside of the classroom, I was asked to coordinate and lead our High School certification effort for Middle States: Accreditation for Growth. I was also able to work with colleagues from Spotswood and around our State on Electronic N.J., a site that uses primary sources to increase understanding of New Jersey's role in United States History. Presenting this project at the National Council of Social Studies, it subsequently received an Award of Excellence from the New Jersey Historical Society.

Outside of the district, I worked as a grader for the Rutgers University History Department for many years in order to stay connected to college and career ready practices and expectations.

Beginning in 2004, I began my transition to administration within the district. Since then, I have held many positions including Supervisor of Social Studies, Supervisor of Health and Physical Education, Athletic Director, Director of Curriculum and Instruction, Principal of Memorial School, Assistant Superintendent, and now, Acting Superintendent.

While all of these experiences are rewarding in their own way, they have all brought me a different view of why I have the best employment opportunity that I could dream of - the students of the Spotswood School District.
